Similar to the windshield tags used for many highway toll collection systems now, AVI offers parker the freedom to come and go with ease, and offers owners and operators unprecedented control. An added benefit in today’s modern world is the comfort and security of knowing a customer can enter or exit your facility without having to open the car window. Typically a tag is placed on the windshield of the parkers car, and an antenna is mounted in the drive lane near the gate. When the antenna "sees" the tag, the main system is checked, and the customer is allowed access based on the rules applied to his or her account. The AVI system is connected directly to the parking software system, and thus can utilize all the same benefits of a traditional card, including credit card replenishment for contract users, debit users or prepaid users. While the AVI tags do cost more than traditional proximity cards, this cost is easily passed on the customer due to the added convenience and ease of use.
